I had a squeaking sound when backing up, took it to one dealership they said it was the u-joints but they recommended replacing the entire drive shaft. I said no way, took it to another they said it was the rear u-joint, they replaced only that and it fixed the problem, now I may have to go back and replace the other joints later, so it may just be a matter of time before I spend the money, but I got away with it this time. I need to check my carrier bearing to see what it looks like, I would imagine it will be going soon, got 110,000 miles on it and I have used it a lot for putting my jet skis in the water, which means it has been submerged in water a few times, depending on where I was putting it in, a few times it was pretty salty water and it eats stuff up pretty quickly.

When i picked it up the guy was still persistent on it being a "shaft within a shaft" and you cant just take it off and replace certain parts you have to replace the whole thing. I said yea ok im out
