drop in donor 2.7l motor, converted from automatic to standard, 4 wheel drive
Hey guys I got a question,
I've got a 03 taco 4x4 2.7l x-cab, truck is project, had donor motor to replace warp block, then modified from automatic to standard. However, since mod, Idle has been high. starts at about 12000rpm and increases as motor heats up. other than that, truck runs great, no sputter or misfire, if you step to accelerate then release, truck drops to about 8000rpm then increases back to about 15000rpm, obd2 only picking up issues with solenoid from auto trans, other than that no codes...need some help...

Hey! I had a simaler problem with the idle a few months back and it ended up being the vacume line right under the Throttle body. Id check all the vacume lines. good place to start. If all are fine then theres nothing i can think of off the top of my head. good luck with it though!

Try cleaning the IAC valve and throttle body.

been checking vacuum leaks, so far none detected but will look again, thought about cleaning iac and t-body, however my taco is my only ride w/busy lifestyle, but didn't do harness swap from donor truck.

Are those numbers correct 12,000rpms? Can a taco motor even do 15,000rpms? Even 8,000 gonna be awfully hard on that clutch. Vacuum then check wiring.
