Wow, that's pretty rough. Hope everyone was ok!

I'm curious about the insurance situation. I'm in the industry, and "gaps" don't just appear out of nowhere. Were you currently up-to-date on payments? Are they claiming that there is no coverage because your GF was driving? Does she have her own car, and her own insurance? Were you truly "off-road", or on a fire service road or similar. The more information the better, I just want to help a brother out!

She does not have insurance. Aparrantly I was not up to date on my insurance due to being out of town. It was 100% my fault for it not being covered. It was just a dirt road out where a lot of people ride dirtbikes. We were out "mobbing". Yes I do plan on marrying her. We are splitting bills together. Which i don't mind. There is a site I found for anyone in a similar situation. It is iaai.com They are an insurance company who bids out busted cars. There are a lot of Tacos on there for decent price. Seeing as all I need is a cab i can get a non running Taco for under $5000 and just piece out the rest online. Such as hood, fenders, bumper, mirrors, etc. Now the issue of switching cabs. I have no idea what to go about doing this. My frame and everything is perfectly intact. Are there just some bolts that need to be removed? Thanks again guys! You're all very helpful!

Wow that sucks. I guess you didn't realize you didn't have insurance until after that fact? You might be better off looking for a high mileage Taco with a blown motor and swap yours. You can try searching all Craigslist with a tool like http://www.onecraigs.com

If you work at a dealer and know some of the techs it should be no problem swapping cabs some night with a few guys help and a lift. Lots of crap needs to get unplugged, brake lines disconnected, steering column undone, etc. But it's only held to the frame with 6 bolts. The key is the physical lifting involved. With a 2 post lift it's EASY. Of course that's assuming the shop foreman is cool with it. Otherwise find yourself someone with a good sized tractor, forklift, something along those lines. It can be done just by manpower too but it's pretty cumbersome to say the least.

They took it and sold it at auction, but for some reason The dealership I worked for when i bought the truck payed the remaining balance on the loan. So I am free and clear and looking to buy a new Taco! So stoked!! Thanks for everyones help, advice, and input. You guys are all awesome! Thanks TW!!
