    Hi all,

New to AZ and to "tacomaworld" but not to wheeling with Toyota trucks.:D I registered on this forum in order to connect with those from the Phoenix area.

On 3/16 I went on a trail run to Box Canyon near Florence. On my way out of the Canyon, I met some of you as we drove in opposite directions through a tight corner on a trail on top of the Canyon. I remember seeing a 2005-2007(?) black/dark grey double-cab, a 1gen reg cab tacoma, a long travel tacoma, etc. Can't remember others.

I remember the trail leader of that group, a gentleman driving the black double-cab. He was kind enough to let me go through the turn first. I really appreciated that:) As I drove through, we exchanged a few words and he was the one who told me the group was from "tacomaworld."

It seems like some of you from this area are very active wheeling. I am trying to join a group of active Toyota guys. I am relatively new to AZ, and each time I go out on a trail is 99% Jeeps:rolleyes:

    Box Canyon 3/16:

Overall it was a really fun and easy trail. I did most parts of it on 2WD. I would say is an easy-to-moderate trail (if you try all obstacles). I was alone, so I took the easy route all the way through.

Entrance to the Canyon. This is where the terrain began getting interesting:

Didn't take any pics of the actual trail inside the canyon unfortunately.

After getting out of the canyon and climb all the way up to the to the view is quite beautiful. Somewhere around here is where I met some of you guys. IMG_1376_zps3a670905_f4a2bdf4ea81e34131df83b6e63b5bb3c9fb19cc.jpg

Next time I would like to try the big obstacle in the middle of the canyon...but I want to go with somebody that has a winch just in case:D

    Crown King 3/29:

Last weekend I went to Crown King with a local group of mostly Jeeps. We went up Crown King the back way. It was lots of fun. Actually there were four Toyotas in the group: the legendary gear installer "ZUK" (from gearinstalls.com) with his 01' extra cab Tacoma, a guy with a pretty sick SAS 87' Toyota running on 1 ton axles and 37" tires, a stock FJ Cruiser and my 1999 reg cab Tacoma. The rest of the group were all Jeeps from stock to highly modified.

Didn't take a chance to take many pics since we didn't make many stops.

Here's a poser shot of ZUK's tacoma, and my reg cab to the right

One of the few places that we stopped to wait for a couple of guys that were trying a pretty steep climb. This is the climb where some of you posted some videos on a different thread. The SAS toyota on 37" tires can be seen at a distance. As you can imagine, he made the climb without any effort:D

On another climb following the Jeeps :p

Anyway, looking forward to joining some of you in the near future for some trail runs. Not that going with Jeep groups is bad or anything, but I sort of want to hang out more often with people that know and understand Tacomas:D

    Thanks.

Welcome to tw. Lots of wheelers here and lots of runs all over the state not just in Phoenix. Hopefully you like to camp too. I dont recall a run being set up for this week. I know a couple guys are going to the pavilion tonight for a meet and greet.

    Thanks.

I'll keep browsing the AZ folder for future events/meetings. I'm game for camping as well as wheeling in other parts of the state.

Yeah keep a eye in the az bs thread and say hi in there. Most trips start in that and move to one of the other planning threads. If you are ever up north in the white mountains give me a shout and I will go wheeling.

Cool man, will do. I am actually planning some trips up there once the hot weather starts kicking down here. I'll send you a PM ahead of time to see if you are available.

Reg cab rules! LOL Are you the only reg cab guy around?

I remember your truck very well because of the mods.

Thanks. So, were you the trail leader that day?

I see you are in Chandler. I am actually now in the Chandler area, so I think we are neighbors:cool: Please let me know whenever you guys head out to a trail, or if you need a hand wrenching or anything like that.

Look forward to joining you on a trail run soon....

We all have a bit of the mall crawling disease from time to time:D

Not a lot of older tacomas around here seems like. So we are proudly representing the old school:p

Those ARB bumpers are heavy as hell but well worth the money. Mine has saved my front end on several occasions :D The rock sliders have paid for themselves on several times as well. As a matter of fact, I got a few scars on them from that trail run at Crown King. Better to have the scars there than on the rock panels:eek:
