4wd

so i still haven't got my 4wd fixed yet. local shop said it was a solenoid. and a new was from the stealership is 630 bucks. so i called a friend that works up there and i was telling him that i couldnt find the part anywhere. and he said because it very rarely goes bad. he said something about the acuator. from searches on here that a comin problem. so my question is where is the acuator located and how will i no if it is the problem or not.

 

the shop i took it to is the only one i trust around here because the others with f up an oil change and i dont wanna take it to the stealer ship and they give me the same answer as the first shop. and me have to pay 30-100 just for the stealer ship it look at it. we all no how that goes

 

i will also say when i test drive it the 4wd worked and the light came on

 

The actuator is located on the front diff, it should have a plug and wires attached to it, easiest way to tell if its the actuator is to test the pins with power

 

what do u mean by testing the pins

 

With you being a 95 do you have ADD?

 

Using a Multi meter and a power supply to test whether or not the actuator is messed up

im still young and know alittle about cars and i plan on learning alot more about them. but i never thought 4wd was so compacatted with vaccum lines and crap. i mean my guess would be front axle locks in front wheels are in to

 

can u please explain more about testing acuator and the equipment used foe that.
