This may not be the best question .....but is the 6" lift any worse on gas mileage than the 3" lift? I know we don't buy trucks for MPG but I have to be considerate when I am looking to do this, and MPG is a huge motivator. If it is all on the wheel tire package and the lift doesn't matter let me know, but I am thinking aerodynamics would affect mpg more on the larger lifts. Highway/city? Is there a difference?

    Please be specific.

    A few bolts are different.
Tire size is where the difference will come from.

But I am assuming that if you don't go bigger than 33" tire on a 6" it would probably look wierd. I was under the impression that on the hwy its worse also I will have a camper top on it.

Is there any disagreement with this info.

You arent gonna get bigger than 33s even with the 6" lift without some modifications. Are you going mainly for looks?

Looking for more ground clearance and for looks I am moving to upstate new York and want some clearance over the snow. OK so let's just say with a similar wheel and tire come swapped from a 3" to a 6" is there a difference and is it considerable enough that I may wanna go this the 3" and use this as a deciding factor.

    I average 17.5mpg with the 6" lift & 35's. Changing to 33's in a few months.

As for snow clearance...the DB 6" lift has almost the same height as a 3" when it comes to undercarriage clearance. Me & Sutton compared our trucks.

OK I will probably go with the 3" lift OME kit though it says 2" if I go HD instead of light duty will the front be lifted slightly higher? Also planning on doing the full leaf pack replacement it says 2.75 on those. The place by me suggest 285 70 17 on 17x8.5 wheels.

Will that give me a full three with that setup and tires?

Why does everyone think a lift effects your gas mileage???

The reason people get worse gas mileage when they lift is because they ALSO put on bigger, heavier tires at the same time. THAT is where the lower gas mileage comes from. Greater rotational mass = worse mpg. Plain and simple. The lift has nothing to do with it.

Most people run 35's with a 6" lift, and 33's with a 3" lift. Thus the misconception that you get worse mileage with a 6" lift.

Thanks for the info on this topic I am new to the lift world. I appreciate all the info and I am now trying to look for which kit to go with in order to get a full three inches.
