How do i get my decals off that i put on with epoxy?

ok so when i plasti-dipped my door and tailgate decals i used some of that 2 liquid mix epoxy to get them back on. i know that in order to get them off again i need to use a heat gun and probably some fishing line. but how should i get the rest of the epoxy that is stuck on the paint off? i really dont want to mess the paint up or eat away the clear coat. an ideas???

 

Not a smart move to use epoxy on paint...I don't think it will come off without damaging the paint underneath. Epoxy is formulated so it WON'T come off...

 

i was scared of that. i was thinking of trying goo gone, and Oops! first since those wont hurt the paint but like you said that epoxy is hard as crap so i dont think it will work too well. probably shouldnt have been cheap and plasti-dipped them and bought new ones :/ oh well i learned

 

Should have just used emblem adhesive or 3m tape...

I always put emblems on with 3m tape

 

just went to the website and pretty much the only way of getting it off according to the manufacture is by "mechanical means" so im going to have to scrape it off. im determined to figure something out though. maybe if i stare at it enough it will get scared and fall off if i figure something out ill make sure i share it for all of the other dumb-asses like me!

Unless you have the funds to repaint every whole panel that you remove those badges from, don't take them off. Like everyone else has said...it'll just be a disaster

I do not understand why you removed the emblems to dip them...that is the whole point of plastidip. Just leave them on the truck. Your probably a perfectionist, try to come up with an easy plan when approaching mods. Youcan over think a lot of jobs and this is the result.

 

i attempted to plastidip them on the truck and when i tried to peel the parts off around the letters it peeled the petter paint off too so i took them off. perfectionist would describe me very well haha.

Heat gun + fingernails + 2x patience at as much a sideways direction as possible. Nothing acetone is going to help you. Damn JB Weld epoxy.

Make sure you wash/clean the area before you do anything. From experience, grinding road dust/dirt into your clear coat with a paper/microfiber towel sucks. You may as well pee on your hand, dip it in sand, and do a Danial-son wax-on wax-off.

 

Is this real life? How can you say your a perfectionist but you removed your badge and used plastidip instead of a rattle can.... And you used epoxy!!! I don't think perfectionist is the right word
