Hey guys I have a 99 2.7l prerunner, with 192k miles on it. Recently I have been running into a problem were it seems like my transmission is shuddering and having trouble changing gears. It happens in between 1-2 at low speeds and sometimes in higher gears when decelerating and accelerating quickly. If I put my put down the truck seems like it shifts normal. If you guys have any idea on what I should do it would help greatly!

Okay I will check it out sometime this afternoon. Also could it possibly be the u-joints? I read somewhere that it's a possibly. My truck does have 192k so
Those u joints probably need to be replaced but my truck doesn't have bad vibrations and the joints don't seem to make much noise .

The proper way to check for bad uniersal joints is by removing the driveshaft and manipulating the universal joints from side to side with your hand feeling for rough spots or binding . You cant tell just by looking at the u-joints wether they are seized or not . With the mileage on the truck , it wouldnt hurt to check them . Any grease nipples on the u-joints ?
If the joints are making noise , there is a problem .

I would start with making sure your transmission fluid is at the proper level . Start the truck in park and warm it up . With the engine running ,Locate the fill tube for the transmission under the hood and check both sides of the level indicator for proper level . Look at the condition of the oil ...should be light brown not black and should not smell burnt .
