About a week ago I posted about a construction company building to the right side on me...I was mistaken...it was just their usual antics. Everytime this company builds or sells a house rather than use a dumpster or load their trash on a pick up they dump it either on the pipelines right of way or on my neighbors and Is land...honestly we are tired of cleaning up their mess, they dump spare wood, pallets carpet signs drywall, rocks, anything left over and my neighbor and I constantly clean it up. We have complained to management and the HOA who relayed it to management...the best result we got was the same guy that dumps the crap came by, looked at it and drove off

Now here is the question, since it is an intact sign, an advertisement none the less am I allowed to charge them rent to have it displayed in my yard? or charge them disposal fees for all the time ive had to take their junk dumped on my land to the dump? or should I get a news station or the city or pd involved? Im just wondering what my options are to quit having their garbage dumped in my yard.

thanks for everyones help last time and all the help this time!

Get in touch with your town office let them deal with it. About the only thing you can do is ask them to remove the sign unless there was a prior agreement you can't just charge them rent. It kind of sounds like a letter from a lawyer in general maybe the ticket

Dumping anything on your land is illegal dumping, call the cops. Otherwise it is a civil matter and if you want you can go to small claims court to get any money back for removal of the item illegally dumped. Previous poster was dead on with his advise - as to signage it will be what is allowed under your local codes and since you mentioned HOA I am sure they have rules about that as well.

10-4 I appreciate it! my neighbor and I have just gotten tired of cleaning their mess everytime a new house is built or sold and we feel that they shouldnt be dumping their trash on our private property, and that its disrespectful to do so after we have asked that it doesnt continue.

Another option is to call your locality's planning/zoning department, or the state environmental agency regarding the dumping. Goodmark is right, dumping/littering is illegal according to most local codes and almost any state regulation. Plus builders have a lot of obligatory local and state permits they have to adhere to for each project they work on, each of which probably addresses proper disposal of waste construction materials.

Edit: Burhgler's advice on politely confronting the builder before calling in a complaint is spot on.
