Light racing uca problem

So I have purchased a pair of LR uca off of Craigslist and the fellow claimed that they came off of a 08 tacoma. I now have my truck on the hoist and torn apart only to realize the uca seem to be wider than the stock ones... there's about a 1/2 inch gap between bushings and the frame mount. Is there supposed to be spacers for these or did the fellow just rook me? This is my first project on my truck and it's not going so well lol. Anyone know anything about these ucas

i know that they are recommended when putting a 2.5inch+ lift on the truck... I've got them on mine... you could ALSO HAVE THE BALLJOINT ON THE WRONG WAY try reversing it on the uca and maybe it'll line up you should be able to read SPC on the bronze metal that sits on the uca arm

Post up some pics. I know that spc has made changes to the bushings a few times. read some where on TW this morning that the new bushing replacement kit only has two washers per side....I think just the on the outsides. I have 4 washers per side...one on each side of each bushing.

 

i believe mine only has a washer on the outsides of mine i can double check in the am and post a picture

 

My apologies for the lack of pictures, I will post some when I get down to the shop tomorrow morning. I have come to the conclusion that I didn't get the spacers from the fellow that are required between the bushings and the frame mount as skully mentioned. I ordered a bushing kit from wheelers, plan on reinstalling stock uca until they arrive.

 

Pm nathan, he just replaced his bushings. I'm sure he can tell you how big the gaps are suppose to be

there is NO wrong way of installing the ball joint
it is made to be rotated to get what ever amount of caster one needs

who knows which set of bushings you have as spc has changed them so many freaking times
do yourself a big favor sell them POS arms and get something decent

 

I held in place with a coat hanger to take the pic the gap will be filled with the spacers that come with the bushing kit i ordered according to the person I spoke with at wheelers. The stock ucas going back on till I get a chance to install them after the delivery

 

That's the old style bushing that uses the 4 fat washers, one on each side of the bushing, that's why there is much space. Order new bushings and replace those, problem solved

 

Once you install the new bushings, tighten the long bolt to 85ft lbs loaded (truck sitting on it's on weight).
