Go to the suspension section and spend hours reading through threads. I recommend coilovers like icon or king because they ride smoother than OME/toytec and allow you to go faster over rough roads.

Hey thanks again guys. Ya I found that page Wishbone thanks for that. My buddy has been using trail damage the last few weeks and ya they haven't updated it yet. A lot of the good trails down here got wiped out by the flood. :( but we've only gone a couple times so I guess it's expected.

Once the snow melts, there will be more trail than you could imagine within a few hours drive.

Toytec will have you covered for whatever lift you want. If you have lots to spend go all out ICON. If you are on a budget get the OME kit. 285s if you dont mind trimming/posibly a cab mount chop and new wheels or spacers. 255s if you dont want to trim, buy new wheels and keep you MPGs near stock.

Ya we ran into that issue this last weekend, just the little flurry we got last week was like a foot up in the hills lol. We're going out again this weekend so hopefully this nice weather will have done the trick.

Ok so after some research I'm now torn between the OME kit and the toytec ultimate. I have a friend with the Ultimate on his FJ Cruiser and says it's awesome. What are the downsides to each. I've heard a combination of alignment and wear from both. What are some of the fixes for these issues as well?

For the OME kit, What're the differences/advantages to getting the 2" add a leaf vs the complete OME leaf spring set? Is it worth it to buy the complete set or just the AAL?

    Dont get the ultimate.

Either go OME or Icon, the reason is that the Ultimate is almost the same price as Icon stage1 and isnt nearly as good. So OME for a budget but good lift, Icon extended travel if you want to spend more and want to ride really smooth offroad and have a little extra travel.

As for the rear options it depends what you want, you could get a 3 leaf AAL and get 1.5-2" lift. The full OME Dakar, will give you around 2.75" lift and ride stiffer than the AAL option. The Dakars are better if you carry heavy loads in the truck.

I went with Icon extended travels, LR UCAs, and wheelers 3 leaf AAL with icon shocks in the back. I love the way my truck rides, and so far it has handled ~550lbs in the back no problem. Offroad it is very smooth.

I have the ultimate lift from Toytec. It's served me well, but it was on the truck when I bought it used, so I had no need to change it out, it was there may as well use it! If you have the cash go icon for sure. When my current suspension runs its natural course I'm going to go icon on all four corners. The Toytec lift is... Stiff. Kinda clunky. Icons run much smoother from what I've been told.

As far as wheels and tires I'd recommend 255/85 16 because they rub no where near as much as 285s, and do awesome on and off road. I went from 285s that were on the truck to 255s and couldn't be happier! (Not to mention they look pretty cool)

Cooper and toyo are pretty popular 255 brands.

    Good luck!

Yeah no worries. Good luck with what you choose and looking forward to the build. Warning though, it can be addictive :)

Oh it already is.. I went out and applied for a CC just to get this done sooner. Can't wait for school to kick off again lol. I'm hoping to be set by Rock Therapy this year. I'm looking at about a 3-4 grand budget for this so I may go Icon over OME. Especially if it's a smoother ride. And once I start my build the pics will start coming. Thanks for all the help everyone, you've all provided great info. LET THE BUILD BEGIN!!!
