Got wheel bearing replaced and now vsc and abs lights come on

Hey I hope I'm posting in the right spot.
So two days ago I took my truck to goodyear to get a quick oil change and rotate the tires. So they call me up and say my right front wheel bearing is bad I say ok fix it ( I'm changing duty stations in four days and have a long drive) I don't want the truck breaking down. So now the steering feels better and the slight wa wa wa sound I did have is gone. But now the vsc and abs lights come on and go off intermittently. I took it back the code says debris on sensor guy says there was some grease on it and he cleaned it. I left and it comes back on. So I research it a little and the wheel speed sensor is a magnetic pick up and if I'm correct the bearing has the index marks on only one side right? Is it possible that it's in backwards. Also I did have an alignment with it could that be the problem? I've searched on here and can't find an answer.

No it's not possible to install the sensor backwards....I don't even have those sensors hooked up lol

 

Not the sensor. The bearing. The index marks are only on one side as far as I understand. Sorry my op wasn't clear

 

It could be, but i cannot remember if ours use that style of if there's a interrupter ring on the cv.

Nvm, it is in the bearing. They could put it on backwards but if i remember right it is really obvious which way it goes on due to the cut outs in the hub itself.

 

So maybe a bad wheel sensor?

 

OK hold on. It's coming on and off intermittent. I didn't see that.

If it was pressed it backwards it would be on all the time.
It could be a faulty bearing possibly or sensor. It's hard to say without looking at it

 

Yeah and the code they read out said debris on wheel sensor
But they cleaned it off I've cleaned it off....
So I'm not sure if they maybe messed up the wire harness the wire or the sensor

If they pressed the bearing together wrong they could have cracked the reluctor ring inside the bearing as well. Try cleaning the connections. Check the wiring for breaks or cracks

 

Don't overthink this.

They need to diagnose and solve the problem they introduced.

 

Moose I agree with you I just want to be informed and go in there with some knowledge so if I hear a bs answer I will know it. They are going to try and fix whatever it is tomorrow.

 

It's very possible that the actual bearing was not pressed in all the way..All it takes is the distance to be a micro in order for the sensor to not read.

Happened to me on my rear wheel bearing..off by half a millimeter

 

Thanks monkey, that makes sense too I have read the tolerances for the bearing and the magnetic pick up are pretty tight
