    stock..... for now!!
Hello, I have had my 2009 Tacoma 4 door 4x4 TRD since new and the warranty has just expired. I figured that was a perfect time to change a few things!! I would like to do a small lift on the truck changing as little as possible to keep it reliable and within budget. I have been all over the forums and have gotten alot of good information but nothing that fits exactly with what I want to do! I was thinking that a 1.5" inch lift in the front would be perfect with 1" blocks in the rear. Has anyone done this? I do alot of highway running and want it to ride and handle as close to factory as possible. I only do light offroading with the truck nothing extreme

    What I need to know
-what is better for ride quality and durability an above coil spacer lift or an in coil spacer lift for 1.5" are there any other drastically better options to go 1.5-2" and maintain good road manners without spending a fortune ?
-can I go with a 1.5"coil spacer lift without dropping the front diff? and without causing damage to any of the suspension components?
-does anyone know of a reputable source for a 1.5" above coil front spacer?
-Do you need to do a front end alignment with a 1.5" spacer lift?
-do you need longer shocks than stock to put 1" blocks in the rear and do you have to change your pinion angle?
I currently have 265/70-17 winter tires on my stock rims and will be getting new rims and tires next month, 17" rims with a tire the same height as my winters and a little wider?

    Thanks all!

the bilstein 5100's look great, I think that is the route that I am going to go! I did some reading it limits the downtravel to near stock levels, but the A-Arms are still going to be pushed down 1.75-2.5" lower than stock driving down the road.... will that make it ride rough?! as it will have 1.75-2.5" less down travel? Also will that cause premature ball joint and CV Shaft wear?

also will my stock rear shocks work with a 1" rear lift or will i have to get the 5100's for the rear as well? i noticed that most shock manufacturers seem to label there stock height shocks as 0-1" of lift? then up from there

Bilstein 5100s, Deaver Leaf Springs, JBA UCAs on 2003 King 2.5 shocks front and rear on Off Road
    Ditto on the 5100s

I just put 5100s coupled with new Old Man Emu 881 springs on the front of my 2003 Toy. I have 5100s with aftermarket leaf springs on the back.

The cost for the coil overs was $350, about half of what you would pay for some hyped up prefab kit like AllPro. I have about 2.5" of lift with a 100lb ARB bumper, (single cab), but it has yet to settle.
You could use your existing springs if they are still strong and they would give you less lift.

The ride is perfect and I have never had shocks like these 5100s now take speed bumps so soft as these do. Its amazing.

Do a search for 5100s and you should find someone who has done the same thing with the stock springs.
