So the dealership thinks I'm crazy so I'm hoping I may get some help from you guys. I have a 2010 TRD off road Taco with about 50K. for the past couple months I've had this random delayed start followed by a rough start up compared to normal, the weird thing is my truck starts fine in the negative temps its only happened in the afternoon when i leave for work and has been staying nice and warm in the sunlight. I have had no other issues and when I'm not getting this delayed start she fires right up, the first time this happened to me was when i left my key in the on position all day and had to get a jump. That was the only time it threw a code all other times it hasn't. to date Ive replaced the plugs and had the dealership go through the truck they say its fine. I hope someone has some input

Did the dealer load test the battery for you and make sure your charging system is funtioning fine ?
How old is the battery ? Are you running short trips with all electrical sources running ?

Somewhat same type of issue here with my 2010 but I have a command start that has trouble getting the truck running due to not cranking long enough .If I use the ignition key and crank just a little longer than the command start does , the truck fires up with no issues .

I posted this issue a while back and most owners said it was time to clean the injectors as another possibility . I had a fuel injection cleaning performed at the dealer and installed a fresh battery . So far the issue has not come back .
Not saying this is your issue but at least its a place to start eliminating possibilities .

No they did not but that sounds like a good next step. I'm just getting irritated. Truck runs great and I love it but it's kind of embarrassing to have a mint truck and have to sit there with it cranking over and over again

It honestly reminds me of trying to start an old carbureted truck

I have a 2012 trd off road with 7500 miles. in the last month i have experienced a delayed start two time. it is also happening to me at the end of a work day. someone mentioned that the "computer" must recognize the key before allowing the engine to start. and sometimes there is a delay with the computer. most of the time it starts right up. I am hesitant to bring it to a dealer because I am certain we won't be able to replicate the problem. any suggestions

Some places will load test your battery for free and it only takes a couple minutes to make sure the charging system is working properly . Not sure how well those fuel injection cleaners off the shelf work ( mechanic in a bottle ) but maybe it wouldnt hurt to try some .

A fuel pressure check would be something else I would be looking at .
I hear your pain . Try coming out to a non running truck at 40 below after a long day of work.
Use the search button at the top right side and look around for info . There are thousands of good write ups in here
