ok I have a question. I saved some cash and bought some new wheels and tires. The wheels I bought from Amazon and the tires I bought from a guy at work. The guy at work has a maintenance shop and told me he would mount and balance the tires as well as install them. Well I dropped the wheels off and he had already increased the price on the tires. I knew he was cheating me but I had told him about the amount of $$ he was saving me. I said I wanted a detailed bill so I know where all the $ is going. I knew I was getting taken for a ride. I came back to get my truck after he had it all day to find my truck sitting on the old tires/rims. I asked what happened and he said he could not balance the tire. It was chasing the weights and he kept having to add weights. He said he had to drop them off at another tire shop. He said he would cover the cost. I took my truck home and noticed the wheel light was off and I had told him to use the old valve stems from my truck to prevent the light being on constantly. The truck is a 2012 so I knew the valves were in prefect condition. I returned and told him I wanted the valve stems kept and put in the new tires. He made a huge deal of it stating it was going to take soo much time to correct this problem and he is going to be out time and $. I told him originally I wanted this done!! So I drop the truck back off and leave it for another day. I return to find again my truck on its original tire and rim. He said the tire shop could not balance the tire they had to order bean bags to put in the tire to balance the tire. I was upset and left with my truck. I waited through the weekend and dropped the truck on monday. I returned after the end of the day to find my truck again on the old tires. I was pissed. The mechanic said he could not get the tire to fit on the truck because the studs are too short and there is not enough thread to get the lug nuts on. He said I needed to order longer threads. I called several 4wheel stores and had no luck finding longer threads. When I said I had a 2012 tacoma and wanted to put fuel hostage rims with 285/70r17 tires on it they said it should'nt need longer threads!! I went over to talk with the mechanic and told him this. The tires and rims were sitting in the corner. I went over to look at them and noticed they all 4 were heavily damaged from being mounted!!!!!! They all 4 have the indents from the metal studs that the mounting machine uses. I asked the mechanic about it and he blew me off. I was so upset I left leaving the truck and tires there. He is a co-worker so I don't know what to do. He works at the shop that services our fire equipment. I had to fill out paperwork and such and it is a business. Should I pursue this? He wants to use touch up paint and cover the blemishes. Will this bubble when it is exposed to the elements (rain, snow, salt, road grime)?? Sorry for the long story (rant). Ps the truck is still there and so are my tires and rims. I want them replaced is this too much to ask?

Go somewhere else and make him get you new rims. They will never ever look 100% if he just touches them up.

There are a few things you should leave to the professionals. These are wheels and brakes. Don't ever do business or go into a business with a friend or family member either. Ok lesson learned, at this point hopefully you didn't pay for the install up front. If you did another lesson, don't ever pay for work or an install before approving the work. Another lesson. If you haven't paid take pictures and get all your wheels and tires out of there. Talk with the owner of your shop, NOT your friend, NOT the mechanic, NOT the front desk person, go straight to the owner. If he's not there get his number. Try and work it out with him, there are reputable wheel refinishers, but do NOT let the shop try and refinish your wheel. Have a professional wheel refinisher do it, someone who does not have a vested interest in the shop. Really that's all the shop is obligated to do, and that is being optimistic. If you don't get anywhere with the owner tell him your going to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint with them.
