I'm looking at running a dual battery set up, and have been doing a bit of research on batteries. Now my question is

Are Optima batteries worth the extra $80-130 bucks over a Duralast/Die Hard?

They are lower in CCA, Reserve minutes, and warranty, and it seems their only 4 upsides are:
    1) mount in almost any position
    2) resistant to vibration/shaking
    3) completely sealed
    4) quickly recharge

Now I'm just trying to figure out if they are really worth the money or if it's like clothes and you're really just paying for the name or if they are a waste of money as a lot of the forums and threads and reviews that i've been reading say. thoughts??

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
Die Hard has an AGM battery also. (Platinum) That's what I would get. I would have gotten one fore the Honda too, but they don't make one that would fit.

Optimas used to be "the shit", but in recent years they have had some quality and durability issues.
I was told that the local Costco no longer carries them because of issues... I don't go to Costco often and when I have, I haven't thought to check batteries to verify.

    Go for the Die Hard.

well unfortunately the dual battery tray i installed (i won't say the fab shop due to issues i am having with the compatibility/forced modifications/tray not fitting the way it's advertised, along with the manufacturer not returning emails/calls) uses the group 34s.

None yet but in the works!
Consumer Reports rated the battery from Walmart a better buy.

yeah, i've used the die hard brand in all my vehicles before, but this dual battery mount forced me to move to the optimas. part of me is thinking of reverting to my single battery and just selling the whole dual battery setup.

I've had both red top & yellow top (many years ago).

The red top was in a couple different vehicles but overall only got 3-4 years out of it. Not that impressive for what you'd expect.

We had a yellow top in our Jeep trail rig. The rig sat for weeks at a time, it always started. The rig had a winch and got used often, and the battery never flinched under load. I left my lights on at one point and it drained the battery. We hooked it up to a charger and it came back to life just as good as it was before. Very impressive battery for the conditions we threw at it. It was on that Jeep for probably 5 years + (we sold the rig).

If you are driving on a street, then a wet battery might be a better buy; however, if you plan to off-road, a spiral wound battery might last longer.

Do you put a good draw on your battery? Audio equipment, on board air compressor? Winch.... You want a solid unbelievable battery... You want an xs power battery
