At 130k I'm in dire need of new shocks and struts. I was looking at the Bilstein 5100s because being able to set the lift on the front intrigues me. I would like an inch or two of lift because my 31s rub my front bumper over bumps or backing up sometimes and I would like it to sit a tad higher for the looks too. However, I feel going 2.5" may be too high for the stock suspension parts and might make my tires look too small. So, I was thinking about setting the front at 1.75 but since I like the way my truck sits or could even stand to see the rear raked just a tad, I was thinking about the 1.5" wheelers AAL. Is my concerns valid for the height on the front and would the 1.5" AAL look good with the front set at 1.75? My rear leafs look fine and aren't frowning. I should add that 95% of the time its driven on pavement but I do use it in my field and during the summer when taking it to lakes for camping and fishing so on-road comfort with good tire/component wear and gas mileage is more important.

31" tires are standard on tacomas (265/70r16 = 30.6") so you shouldn't rub at all. maybe with normal new shocks it may return to that

Ok, I'm thinking the reason they rub is probably from when my wife backed into my truck a couple years ago, the bumper is probably pushed in a tad even though it looks straight. They do stick out more than my stock 16s I had on it.

^this the inner fender well may be pushed back from the impact and where the brackets sit now.

I've never seen an 01+ without 16's (maybe in southern states?) as I thought they made it standard for gearing/looks package

Can't you run 32's on stock suspension? That would lift without suspension work? I guess then you have to worry about gearing?

Kind of thread jacking. Recently swapped 5 sp into 456 gearing. Still stock tire size. Got to go bigger. Just wondering about tire size without much suspension work. For me, the less suspension lift the better. Read to many problems with lifting! Running near 3000 rpm@70 mph. I think it's 70!

wow ya, 456's would be better with 33-35s, but you would need a lift then.

410 is still good with 32s (and ya it's nominal 31.7")

unless you crawl/offroad then those gears would be better for lower speed?

I live in the country with lots of 35-45 mph roads. Dirt roads, mountains, and hills. I'm hoping 32's will be o.k. Very few long rides at high speed. This truck is used some for work, but mostly running around. Thoughts on this? I don't crawl, but do some light wheeling.

Ok so apparently the Bilsteins for our trucks only range from 0", 1" and 2.5"? I like the way the truck sits now rake wise so what about setting the front at 1" for a slight bump and a shackle in the back to give it the rake back since I've lost some over time with the stock leaves? I'd rather it be rear high than nose high.
