The wire from the COR to the fuel pump is solid blue on all the 1st gen Tacos I have seen. I accessed it behind the driver side kick panel. It also can be seen (and traced forward or back) in the wire bundle branching off of the bundle under the driver side door sill. The bundle in question runs from the sill to a grommet in the floor under the seat and the blue wire is among the thickest of the bunch. Be aware that the pump is not powered with just an "ignition on" condition. The ECU must first see a signal from the starter and the crankshaft position sensor.

A fuel pump switch can also come in handy for checking the fuel systems ability to "hold" pressure. Useful to a degree when troubleshooting leaking injectors, fuel pump check valve and/or the fuel pressure regulator.

How about install a kill switch for spark to avoid the engine catching briefly. Better yet install one for fuel and spark to avoid fuel flooding and to give the perp a run for his money. And btw moving out of the hood dosent rid you of the paranoia.
