I tried to find how much my SR5 alloys weigh, which I've seen about 26-28 lbs. I am considering going from the stock 245 Dunlops to 265/70/16 Duratrac's in C load rating. The difference in tire weight is about 10 lbs, is it reasonable to think that if I can decrease wheel weight (28 lbs seems heavy for alloys, but I can't weigh mine and have to trust the 'net) this will limit any MPG loss with my 2.7/auto Prerunner?

The weight of the tire is further out, thus will have more influence than wheel weight.

Thank you. Would the additional cost of the lighterweight wheels be kind of a waste of money? If cost of wheels vs. cost of extra gas isn't far apart, then I don't need to spend the money.

Yup. You won't loose much with the new tires anyway.

Especially when you add in the MPG hit from increased rolling resistance from switching to the Duratrac. Changing the weight of your wheels won't affect that at all.
