2001 TACOMA WITH LIFT KIT 4X4 2.7 4CYL, I had both CV boots tear and had run dry to long. Was recommend by dealer it would be about the same price to just replace drive shafts on each side. This replacement was done and I had to bring the truck back as it was leaking on both sides from the connection point to the transfer case. The dealer says the drive shaft seals are bad, and replacement of both sides is required which is $700.

1)Seals didn't leak before replacement of drive shafts, why now?
    2) If the seals are worn or bad, why wouldn't they be replaced when original work was done?
    3) Am i getting screwed by paying for the dealers mistake ?

I would certainly think they would have replaced the seals when they did the short shafts.....

If the dealer ( or whoever) changed your CV axles & didn't replace the soft seals in front diff (i think this is what you meant) they're idiots, plus those seals are about $20-$25 , maybe not even that much, but $700 to R&R those is flat out robbery, you're getting screwed...hard...IMO

After discussions with the service writer it was determine there was a mistake and all of it has been worked out! I have tried different dealers and mechanics in the past with bad luck. But, have had the best luck with these guys so i was concerned about the issue and need some other opinions as i wasn't sure? It all good now and i have learned more than i knew yesterday:cheers:!
