Looking at getting some new suspension. Was going to go with bilsteins, but life has made me take a cheaper route. Lookin at a couple different shocks on Rockauto. Torn between goin with the KYB gas adjust and Monomax or the Rancho RS5000 or RS9000xl. I know the Monomax is a heavy duty shock, and the RS9000xl can be adjusted for certain uses. Anybody have any suggestions or experience with any of these shocks?

Well I wanted to do a little lift but just had to leave my job. And some other maintaince is taking my money. I really need to change my shocks, it's gettin to where I bottom out at the slightest bumps. And they're the TRD bilsteins, so they're really rough sometimes and bouncy other times. It's a really bad ride

Do 2nd gen shocks work on first gens? If so I have OEM fronts with 20k miles I will ship if you cover shipping and save up for what you wanted in the first place

I had the monomax on my 1st gen and they gave a very rough ride if your not carrying any weight. Had no complaints except for the harsh ride granted they are heavy duty shocks though

    Get some bilstein 5100s
They will be much better than rancho. Plus you can get height adjustable so you could get a little bit of lift :D

I figured they might give a rough ride, I wonder how much rougher it is compared to the stock bilsteins. I might just go with the gas adjusts, but then I saw the Rancho's that you can adjust for what you're doing

They're just expensive. I also have to replace coils and leaf springs and it all adds up quick

It was rough enough where I wouldn't get them again unless I was always hauling. It was like I was riding in a chuck wagon. It was a refreshing change at first coming from a set of worn out stock bilsteins but quickly got old

I'm thinking about the gas adjusts. There's some good reviews of them on here
