So I will start with I'm new to the forums and I know very little about trucks in general but the few things I have done so far like change a horn and help a friend fix part of his exhaust have really sparked my interests. One where is the best place to start learning I'm only in high school. Two where's the best place to start with improving performance for a novice like me? Third and last where in the world is the super/turbo charge located? I know my truck should have one I will post specs below. I readed somewhere that the 99 model had a turbo instead of a the normal super is this true?

    welcome
most of the sticky treads will help you, as for turbo no these truck never came with them stock. it all aftermarket except for the supercharger which is design by TRD by Toyota. Its a factory option if you want to call it for extra money to be purchase/install. TRD supercharger is located on top in replacement of the stock intake manifold. Now if there is a turbo it would be located on the passenger side exhaust. crawl underneath passenger side if there is one you'll see it. (snail looking shell)

haha yea no turbo came stock ever in any tacoma.

any turbo setup is BIG money and VERY custom.

There is a bolt on supercharger from TRD available though.

start doing a LOT of reading. Lots of stuff here to help, you just need to read and take your time.

Best place to learn = tacoma world, ttora, there's a few more that I can't remember.. You will learn everything specific to your vehicle. Research research research. Don't be afraid to use the search function on google or tacoma world. Best way to improve performance IMO is by changing oils/air filters/general up keep. Look into superchargers and what not once you are really familiar with what you are doing.

Thank you for all the helpful information I will definitely do a lot of reading and I know now where the super charger is do they sell bigger ones or do the only sell one size for this engine? Also do using the ect power button and turning off over drive help or hurt performance and engine life? Online I havnt found anything on the ect power button and the guy from Toyota say it's for winter use and I should not use it in the summer. Thanks again

Power button just changes shifting points and throttle response. See a tad hit in mpgs with it on. Made for towing or hills.

Only one size SC by TRD. Smaller pulley wheels for more boost and fuel add ons from URD.

The SC is big and black on top and replaces the intake manifold if you have one
