I've done the deadening in my door, using RAAMmat, I lined the outer skin, and the inner skin, and then put CCF on top of that. Yet when I have the system up, you can still hear the mids and highs outside the door, where I have my speakers. Is there a foam liner or MLV that I should use to line the doors outer skin to keep the back wave from exiting the cab?

No it won't fully stop the music from being heard outside the doors.

I'm not sure what CCF is but if it is like Raamaudio's Ensolite then you do not want to do the entire inside door skin. You put an 8x8 inch square behind the rear speaker only.

This is the best way to deaden a car. Rick at Raamaudio knows his shit.

Thanks Aw9d. I'm gonna buy some of that foam from RAAMmat now, and use some of it to seal the speaker to the door card as well. Wrap it like a tape around the mounting bracket that I have, to get the mid to play more into the truck. Appreciated.

From what I understand you'll need to use MLV to block noise

So, I posted the same question on diymobileaudio.com, and they pointed me to this product. http://www.soundconnectioninc.com/magento/index.php/home-page-items/6-fast-ring-kit.html
Perfect for sealing the mid to the door card, to direct more of the sound into the cab, as well as having an insert to go behind the mid, to break up the rear wave of the speaker. Problem is, the company doesn't ship to Canada without an expensive shipping solution. They transferred me to another guy in the shop, and he says that Visions Canada is a dealer for this product from them as well. He's going to get back to me, once he gets the info together, and let me get a phone # or location that I can order from in Canada. I'll update this post once I get that info for fellow Canadians.

I'd be skeptical about those as you are putting foam over the cone. They are just foam. Foam doesn't direct sound all that well. If you follow the steps at Raamaudio you'll get the best sound and will not be dissapointed. I wish you were closer and I can show you how good it will sound the way Raamaudio does it. The door turns into a box for the most part helping with the boom. Rick (owner or RaamAudio) has won loads of stereo competitions. I'd just call him up and ask him about those and he will tell you if they are worth it or not. Last time I called him to place an order we talked for over 3 hours about stereo's.

Thanks man. Once I get the HSK165XL's in, I'm going to do what is on the RAAMmat website, and put an 8"x8" piece of CCF(closed cell foam) behind the speaker. Give that a try for a bit, and see if it makes a noticeable difference. If it doesn't, I may try the speaker rings, just to see what they do as well. It's all dependent on the XL's, and what kind of midbass I can pull from them over the C2-250's I have now. I have no doubt it'll be more, I just want the best performance I can get.

Thanks for the offer, but there's two boxes coming to a store near me sometime next week. That should give me time to evaluate with just the foam behind the speaker, and if I decide to, go with these rings.

Can't give rep yet, must have given him some recently. Anyways, just wanted others to know, Colby helped me out by buying some of the rings, and will UPS them to me. Paid him through paypal, and he didn't even want extra for the trouble, said "Consider it paying it forward". Great guy, now I'm willing to help out too. If I can, I'll definitely help out a fellow TW member. It's guys like Colby that make this site great!
