Don't worry, I'm not asking what tire size is best lol (I've narrowed it down to 285/75/16's or 255/85/16's) and I've already trimmed all the plastic I could get rid of b/c of my TG front bumper b/c I know that much is necessary, at minimum.

Also, I have read almost every thread regarding these questions and have not found the answers I need b/c none of them are specific to 6" backspaced wheels or ask exactly what UCA's are best for a 3" lift.

    First issue:

From all the threads I've read, I'm thinking I'm probably gonna have to get new wheels or either get spacers because the backspacing on mine are 6" and I think I'm needing to get around 4.5" backspacing to avoid hitting stuff at full turn/rubbing/hitting UCA's. I'd much rather just sell my wheels and get some with a 4.5" backspacing, rather than slapping on spacers over 2".

    Second issue:

I've read a lot about everyone's 2 cents about their favorite UCA's, but I wanted to see which is best for specific rides. I know aftermarket UCA's aren't necessary with a 3" lift (I've got Billes set @ 0" with Eibach springs and and AAL in the rear, FYI), but the benefit of better alignment, clearance, and travel all sound worth it to me.

    So, here are my questions:

    1. Would a wheel with 6" backspacing work with 285/75/16's if I got a spacer that was no bigger than 2" (1.25", 1.5", or 2")?

    2. If I keep my 16" wheels with 6" backspacing and use a spacer with 285's, what spacer size would I need to keep from hitting my stock UCA's?

    3. If I keep my 16" wheels with 6" backspacing and use no spacers, I'm fairly certain 285's are gonna hit my stock UCA's and maybe other stuff at full turn. The 255's should clear them though, right? Currently, I've got 265's, so the 255 should not hit the UCA, since it's 10.04" wide, compared to my current 10.43" wide tires. Right?

    4. If I upgrade UCA's (which I feel I should), what brand is best for a simple 3" suspension lift and does this depend on whether or not I go with the 255 or 285?

Sorry for such a newb question, but I'm bored and my mind has begun to wander

Also mods, this should probably be moved to the 'Wheels & Tires' thread. My bad.

Maybe....I thought UCA's were the ones to worry about rubbing when going up to big boy tires :notsure: This is why I made this thread, though!

geometrywise, UCA's are generally the same. clearance issues shouldn't play a role in choosing one

if you're rubbing the UCA you have bigger problems

Okay. I didn't know if different companies' UCA's were geared towards different lift-types. Also, I was under the impression that UCA rub was pretty frequent when going to wider tires, hence the need for spacers or wheels with 4.5" backspacing or less

there's no UCA geared towards types of lifts, all of them do generally the same thing

my point with the rubbage was kinda just restating the first part- you should focus more on getting proper wheel fitment than trying to choose a UCA that'll give you clearance- cause if you rub one UCA, you'd rub em all

as far as actual wheel fitment, im not going to pretend like Id know what im talking bout . lol

haha I've read that the ideal backspacing for 285/75/16's are 4.5", but I was wondering if anyone had tried 6" backspaced wheels with a spacer. I've read of people with wheels with more than 4.5" of backspacing using spacers to keep from rubbing, but no one was specific as to how much backspacing their wheels actually had.

If I get new tires and there's even the remote chance that they're going to rub anything, I'm gonna fix it lol. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do it

I need some backspacing gurus up in here

I got nothing for you Zach, & honestly I never had or heard of back spacing until I got back into a toyota with IFS, it's backspacing this backspacing that... Just seems like alot of un necessary bullshit, but yet it is for these trucks with bigger tires/wheels......sux:(
