On the way home from a 40 mile round trip yesterday there was a noise that sounded like it came from under the truck, I instantly took it out of gear, turned the truck off, and let ti role till I could turn off safely. The noise sounded like to me a spring came out of the clutch, my clutch had been feeling different, and when I would let off after shifts the truck would jerk like I was poping it. My dad was with me and he thinks the same thing. I was only about 150yards away from home so I started the truck put it in first and drove to my house and then turned off the truck. Today I opened the hood to check the oil and I noticed that the coolant resavore cap was off of the bottle, I checked the level of it a couple days ago so I didn't think much of it. I opened the radiator cap and the level was low, checked the oil and the level was high. I had a head gasket leak in the past so and used some block seal for a quick fix so I could drive it till I get enough money to rebuild my engine. So I was going to start my truck and let it run for about a minute and then check the oil to see jf the coolant and oil mixed but it fired once and then it just turned over. I checked the plugs and piston tops from the sparkplug hole and there's still carbon on the pistons. I put the plugs back in and tried again, it fired once and then just turned over. I don't think I over heated the engine because I always look at the temp when Idrive and there was no steam when I parked yesterday. I have no problem with doing new head gasket, but is that what it is. I plan do a compression test to see if that's. what it is. I am going. to pull the trans back and check the clutch. I have 219362 miles on my 96 2.7 3rz with the 5 speed . any thoughts would be welcome. And I posted from my phond so sorry for all the misspelled words and misplaced periods.
