    Hey Guys,
I installed these heated seats from ebay under a CST leather kit. I am terrible with wiring and could use some help, as I read and read but do not comprehend. If you have a relay, can you wire from battery -> in-line fuse-> relay -> heater pads, or do you need to pass through the fuse panel?

Basically, as you can see in the picture, i have the (a) switch, (b) 2 connection for the seat pad, (c) red power wire, and (d) black ground wire, all of which go through a relay (NO: 40A/14VDC; NC: 30A/14VDC).

I just need help understanding where the power wire/in-line fuse goes so the seats are only on when the car is on. Yes I am an idiot with this, and I have read, but I just need a direct answer. I also bought 2 bussmann add-a-circuits in case I need them.
    Thanks much in advance!

    This is how Basically:

Battery Positive ---> Switched Fuse ------------> Relay Coil ------> Ground.

Battery Positive ----> Switched Fuse -------------> Relay Contact ------> Seat Heater Red Wire.

Seat Heater Black Wire ------------> Ground.

It sounds like you really should have someone experienced in automotive wiring do it. If not done properly it could burn the truck.

I hear ya. That's what I don't understand, there is only a Positive Wire and a Negative wire, so I am not sure where your 2 grounds are coming from. I will try to find someone local with some experience unless someone else chimes in.
    BTW, this is the kit....

Just as an FYI, I wired my Pioneer deck, steering wheel controls, brake bypass, backup cam, and bed lights by myself (with the help of TW), so i have some wiring knowledge. I just meant on this I am stumped b/c I want to do it the right way to protect the battery/electrical system.

The ground can be any metal part of the truck that is tied to the negative side of the battery. Do you have a Multimeter?

I know that and yes. What I meant was you have 3 wires in your explanation , with 2 going to ground. I only have 2 wires, a power wire and a ground wire. I need help with the power.

if you only want the seats to work when the truck is one then you'll need to use a add a circuit. Red connects to the add a circuit and black can be grounded to a bolt under the console

Got them done and wiring was very easy thanks to members. Add a circuit in both fuses for the rear windows, switches in the center console, grounded behind the shifter.
    Thanks for the help!

    Nice work Brian,
the nice thing about using add a circuit to the window circuit is the power stays active until the truck is turned off and a door is opened (i think that last part applies or i may be confusing with ford). regardless, you dont have to worry about them draining the battery.

my truck doesnt have rear windows but the fuse block was wired for both.

some ppl on the forums are like "OMG add a circuits are going to burn down your truck!" and that simply is not the case, ive used them for years and in this particular application, almost 2, with no problem. just a case of interwebz over complicating something simple.

nice job, post up some photos when you're all done
