I have a 2006 Access Cab TRD Sport, 170k miles. Went up to the dealer this weekend to look at a 2009 F150 FX4 with the 5.4, they had a great price on the window, I wasn't even gonna mess with getting them to come down. The guy tells me my trade is work $8000... NADA shows average trade in between 12-13. So I turned the guy down and walked out... Am I crazy to think I should be getting 12-13 on this truck?

I have never heard of real trade in value being as high as NADA spells out. :(

Maybe that "great price" on the '09 F150 is offered cause they low-balled the previous owner on his trade-in too. :notsure:
    I've never accepted a dealer's first offer.

A salesman that i have worked with out there before just called me and said he has taken it over and going to call around and find a buyer at 12k. I know it's best for them to rob me, but they know not who they fucketh with.

Go to carmax and get a free quote on your trade in.

They usually offer more than dealers.
They offered me $19k for my 2008 with 85k miles

Even for a Toyota... that's a ton of miles on a vehicle for a dealer to try and sell. Most likely they're going to wholesale it, and that means they'll incur more fees to move the vehicle to an auction, where they'll get low-balled because of the high mileage and the nature of the wholesale business.

I think most dealers are crooks, but even still... if you want NADA you're likely going to have to sell it yourself or take it to Carmax, who still won't give you as much as if you sold it yourself.

Yeah your absolutely right, this dealer is a Premiere Chevy dealer, they don't want an old Toyota on their lot with 170k on the ticker. Apparently the dealers owner has some interest in a Toyota dealership a couple counties over, so they are making some calls over there today.
