the MLV I bought from Super Soundproofing Company. It was a 54" wide 8 foot roll. I still have probably 2 feet of the roll left, but I may put it on my doors too... we'll see. I just got the speakers and mounts and amp today, so I'll post more pictures tonight!

I'm in the middle of laying MLV in my truck after just doing raamat/ensolite back in January. If I can remember this evening I will snap a few pictures of the floor I finished yesterday.

Just got back from vacation. Time to finish this thread...

Let talk about the speaker install...

After I laid all the deadening/dampening, and all the wires, I needed to make sure the radio worked and the wires were good (aka I wanted something to hear for all my hard work.)

I bought speaker mounts from Taco Tunes, but I didn't realize that I was missing the MUCH needed longer screws to mount them. I took the factory screw to lowes, if I remember correctly, it's a metric 8 in size. I just wanted one long enough to mount it on the door, so I figured 1.75" would do, and they did. I also put a square of ensolite behind the speaker too.

    SDC10102.jpg

Before I screwed the speaker into the mount, I put a very thin layer of silicone just to act as a buffer behind the speaker SDC10101.jpg

Then I put the speaker in, and cut the door panel so the speaker wouldn't touch it.SDC10104.jpg

I used self drilling metal screws to mount the crossover in the door.

    Done with door speakers.SDC10111.jpg SDC10109.jpg

Since I couldn't find a how-to on this, I took lots of photos. Some people say it's not worth it. After putting 2 layers of RaamMat on it and a layer or Ensolite, I think those people are NUTS. 1. You can turn your whole car into a giant sub box. 2. You don't hear the rain tin-can effect. 3. It's said to reduce heat...

    To Remove the headliner...
Start with the screws where the top console is. Remove those and set aside. The console is held in place by LITTLE metal clips. Be careful not to lose those or you'll have to screw it back up like me...
    SDC10116.jpg

Next find all of these things, SDC10119.jpgpop them open with a tiny screw driver (like one you would tighten sunglasses with), and remove the screw. I always prefer to put the screw back after I removed the part it was holding so I didn't forget where the screw went. Just a personal thing I guess. SDC10118.jpgSDC10121.jpgSDC10120.jpg

The visors hold the headliner in 3 places, the 2 screws on the visor mount and the clip. TWIST the clip and remove the screws. SDC10117.jpgSDC10124.jpg

After removing all the screws, the trim pieces are held in with the same style retainers as the door, so just pop the trim pieces off. Pay attention to the direction you pull so you don't break anything.

Lastly the hangers in the back twist like the visor clips did. I used some pliers to TWIST because they were so dang tight.

Now the only thing holding the liner on is the tape for the plugs. So tear/remove the tape, and unplug everything. Then remove the liner :D
    SDC10127.jpgSDC10130.jpg
NOTE: to remove and reinstall the dome light, open the clear plastic part first.

After everything was out, I put 2 layers of RaamMat BXT II on the big open parts, one layer on the other parts, then a layer of RaamMat Ensolite on top.
    SDC10133.jpgSDC10132.jpgSDC10134.jpg

I also took the opportunity to cut the wires to the speakers in the roof and remove the pieces of crap.

I bought a Kicker L5 10" sub and a vented box. The DVC sub is being run off channels 3&4 of of my amp. I didn't think I had enough power to push an L7, but with all the deadening, I don't need anymore bass!

I grounded the amp in the wrong place and got ridiculous alternator whine, so I regrounded it and the whine disappeared!

The Focal components SCREAM and my Taco is a much quieter ride... Now I can listen to NPR at 900 million decibels while cruising down the interstate.

Any questions? I hope this helped some people...

does anyone have any ideas for how to fix scratch on the interior dash or console? I've scratched up mine in a few places when I was tired and frustrated, and now I'm tired and frustrated of seeing the scratches! :)

Use Petroleum Jelly to get wires through door channels! SO MUCH EASIER
