Wheeler's 3 Leaf Progressive AAL + Factory Overload

I just installed the Wheeler's 1-1/2" Three Leaf Progressive AAL and I took out the factory overload. I got about 1-1/4" lift, I was hoping for the full 1-1/2" obviously (but I also know it's a little silly trying to measure from center of the hub and talking about a 1/4" difference). I know it will probably settle some so I'm slightly concerned I may end up with even less.

I am installing OME 884 coils with Bilstein 5100s at 0 tonight. I'm currently 2-1/4" higher in the rear than the front. So technically I should be pretty much level afterward. But I am afraid I may end up a little nose high or appear that way...I may not end up like that, but not sure.

I know from reading many threads that some have left the overload in when installing an AAL but I didn't see a thread only on that so I would like to get some feedback here on the measurements and more importantly the ride from those that have left the factory overload in in case I decide to put it back in.

I do haul some weight occasionally and also tow a trailer but nothing too crazy or too often.

I had the Icon version of that AAL, it was a 3 leaf progressive AAL designed to give 1-1/2" of lift. I left the overload leaf in place and, under normal driving, it just acts as a 1/2" lift block. You won't feel the difference in ride until it's loaded way down. If you want the extra height, throw it back in, it won't hurt anything.

 

I used to have the wheelers 3 leaf AAL and I left my overload in. It gave me 2 1/2" of lift at the time of install although I'm sure it settled a bit after that.

Like i said im sure over time it settled a little but yes, on the day i installed it i had 2 1/2" of lift

 

I have the Wheeler's 3-leaf HD progressive AAL and left the factory overloads in. On top of the non-tsb 3-leaf factory set. I rides great unloaded, and loaded is very stout. Way better than before and am very happy so far with the set up. I didn't measure before & after so not sure how much it raised. i have a shell, gas can and various gear so it sits lower with the weight.

Over the winter I added a set of the

Hellwig 550 helper springs, but haven't driven it loaded with gear yet with those on.

 

I installed the icon AAL but removed my overload. I got 2 1/2" but I have a RC 4X4.

 

oh, RC cab - that makes sense. I have the Wheelers HD 3 pack going on my DC this weekend and from all my searching was expected 1-1/2" then saw your post and questioned my decision again. Thanks for clarifing.

 

I have the Icon 3 leaf AAL. I took the overload out. After it settled, I got 1.5" inches of lift.

 

installing tomorrow night and raising the 5100's in the front to 1.75". alignment scheduled for Saturday morning. I don't mind a little rake so when I haul or tow it sits level. I will post pics and measuring stats.

After a week and a half of settling I re-measured my truck last night. BEFORE putting on the Wheeler's 3 leaf progressive AAL I was at 21.75" from center of hub to fender. I am currently at 22-1/2" so I only got 3/4" of lift from it.

I swear something seems off with my rear leaf pack even before I installed the AAL. Not the ride, or noise or anything but I had started another thread about the rear measurements I got when I first took delivery of the truck.

From new(I still have less than 1500 miles on it) the rear only sat 1" higher than than front, which was different than whenI had my 2011 rear TSB done which made it 1-1/2" higher and the '14 has the same rear pack.

And now I only get 3/4" lift from a 1-1/2" AAL. Call me confused.

BUT......the truck is dead level right now, I'm at 22-1/2" on all for corners....which is good right now.....as long as everything stops settling. haha

 

if you leave the overload in are the included Wheelers ubolts long enough??
