If you fly a flag at your home, or if there's one where you work, it should be flown at half staff today for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Is there an official site for when a flag is to be flown at half-staff? I see them flying at half-staff a lot often wonder why it's being flown at half-staff for a particular day.

HalfStaff.org has a calendar, but they don't seem to update it. There is a list at the bottom of the calendar page, though:

    • By order of the President of The United States
    • By order of the Governor of your state
    • Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15th (sunrise until sunset)*
    • Memorial Day, last Monday in May (sunrise until NOON)
    • Patriot Day, September 11 (sunrise until sunset)
    • Korean War Veterans Armistice Day (sunrise until sunset)**
    • National Firefighters Memorial Day (sunrise until sunset)**
    • Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, December 7th (sunrise to sunset)

*Exception: When the 15th of May falls on the THIRD Saturday in May (Armed Forces Day) the flag shall NOT be flown at half staff.

**Note: I didn't know about these days... and there's no date, so I don't know when on the calendar they fall. I'm sure I could look it up, but I'm about to leave work, so maybe later...
