I am looking to get some new headlights because my OEM ones r sun faded and cracked
I want lights that r brighter and shine farther I dont know whether I should get HIDs or LEDs
I have read about HIDs and there r so many options i dont know what is good or what some of it even means
I like lights that light up the road and the ditches on the side because there r a lot of deer where i live so i dont know if HIDs would b good or not

Having experience with higher wattage halogen bulbs, HID kits, and projector HID retrofits in a previous car, I would look at getting auxiliary LED lighting for the Tacoma before trying to just make the stock headlights brighter.

The problem is the reflectors were shaped with the stock (or near stock) light output in mind. That's why throwing a cheap (and usually not inexpensive) HID kit into the stock housings blinds oncoming traffic worse than your high beams. Retrofits are nice, but in a truck application they're limited since they have a sharp light cutoff -- light below the horizon, darkness above.

If/when I need more lighting for my truck, I'm going with the LED light bars.
