I just got my truck about 2 weeks ago. The guy who owned it before me had a viper alarm put on it, not exactly what I would do, but keyless entry and remote start are cool with me...

anways, last night after dinner out with the lady I used the remote to unlock the truck, and when I tried to start it the dash light would flash on and off really slowly, and instead of starting up the starter would just click as if the battery were dead. After a while it stopped doing this, and now it just clicks once loudly, like the battery is weak, but then after a second with the key still turned to start it clicks really fast like the starter is no good. WTF is going on?!?!?!?!

I talked to the guy I bought it from and he said there is a red button under the dash that will reset the alarm system so it won't disable the starter. After searching for an hour I still swear there is no red button, but I'll get to look at it in the daylight today.

So any advice or ideas? How many boxes of dog sh!t should I mail the guy etc...

EDIT: I guess this should be in the audio/video section...any mods wanna help with that?

I have a Viper alarm. My reset is in the right little cubby by the steering wheel.

I found the reset button, I think...is yours a little black button a bit smaller than a pencil eraser? There is a button like that wired up by the fuse box like you said, but it's not red like the PO said it would be, however I can't think of it doing anything else...

Turns out my battery was toast, so I got a new one. As I was installing the new battery I realized the connection to the positive battery terminal was totally corroded  There was less than 1/8" of actual contact between the connector and the battery post. Just turning the key to on drew enough current to heat it up, so  some more...I'll be using what's left of daylight today to replace that...ugh
