I have a 2011 TRD Off Road in factory 1E7 and have been on the lookout for a Sport hood in 1E7 since day one when I got the truck.

A guy in town just put his 2008 4dr TRD Sport in 1E7 out for sale at a busy intersection. I stopped in to look it over - cuz that's just what you do. The Sport was pretty beat as he used it for a work truck and it was stoved up in a few places. The interior was haggard and smelt like a wet ashtray but the hood was mint.

I got the number off the sign, called and left the guy a message on Saturday. He finally called me back this morning and I pitched my trade deal with him. I told him mine's a 2011 with no dings, scratches, or dents and said I could bring a buddy, an 18 volt cordless impact and sockets, and have the hoods swapped in 30 min.

At first he was not interested but then I offered to toss $100 and a 12 rack of his favorite brew. He replied “Well, I have a few people that made offers but they are all too low.” I don’t see how he is going to get what he’s asking because the truck is not exactly nice to look at.

I offered him $200 plus the trade to which he replied “I’m really just looking to sell the whole thing as it is.” I told him that’s fine but if he changes his mind and wants to make an easy $200, just let me know. He says “Yeah, you never know, maybe if she don’t sell right off, I’ll give you a call.”

I doubt it will happen, but you never know!

    I agree, $200 is a fair deal.

I'm hoping that truck will sit there for sale for a long time, that way he has time to think it over :)

I just don't see what the point is in this hood. It doesn't function or provide anything. Good luck to you and getting an item that is basically jewelry.

But IMHO that hood looks just stupid, reminds me of the guys back when I was in high school that had straight 6 cylinder ford mavericks and put scoops on the hood. Yes, i know that statement dates me. Lol

If you put a v8 in it had a blower under that scoop and need more airflow, I would say go for it, but for looks.... Nah.. Its an offroad truck, spend the money on offroad equipment.

Wow, that got longer than I thought it would... Damn soapbox.... Hahaha. Enjoy your hood!

Yeah, I know its completely cosmetic, but so are 80% of the other mods I have done to my truck :)

I just like the look of the scoop. I'm not much of a hardcore off roader, just light use on the way to my fishing spots, getting my kayak in the water, tote roads, and the occasional gravel pit. I hate to admit it, but my truck is my daily driver - which makes it a pavement princess.
