I know there are brackets to move the mirror up, but has anyone thought about or actually heated up the mirror glue and removing it and reattatched at the top of the windshield? I know they come off on their own from time to time, and ppl usually just have a windshield company reglue them back on, so why not glue it higher up?

It might not hold too well. There is a specific location for the glued pad that is smooth. If you move it up you will be in a bumpy area...

I think the windshields come with the bracket already mounted. The mirrors just snap on and off

No. It is glued on after installation when the windshield is replaced. The OP is talking about relocating the mounting pad.

Why go through all that trouble when the brackets take a couple minutes to install?

I have an 07 tacoma with the auto dim, and i also have a 2008 crewmax tundra, but wanted to switch mirrors because the tundra has a regular one, what would be the best way to switch them ?

Heated mirrors from @Up2NoGood. 5100 Bilstein all four corners.
Why not just move the arm up and reposition the mirror to be higher? I did this on my last two trucks and it improves a lot. I also have the Gentex mirror and that's not an issue. No, glue, no extra bracket...FREE
