I went to change the pads and rotors on my 2011 Tacoma yesterday and noticed that brake line is solid leading from the control arm to the caliper. Usually that line is flexible so you can pop the caliper off and rest it on the control arm. Not knowing exactly how to proceed i stopped so im looking for some help or ideas. I've changed countless pads and rotors in my day but never seen solid brake lines leading right to the calipers before. It does make sense to me that i'd have to disconnect the hard line and end up having to bleed the brakes for a simple rotor and pad change. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Ken

Is that an "off road" thing? No rubber lines.

That steel line connected to your caliper is connected to a rubber brake hose. It goes through a bracket that is bolted to the spindle. If you take out the one bolt holding the bracket to the spindle you can move it around without bending the steel line or disconnecting it. Make sure to have something handy to hang the caliper. Never let the caliper hang by the hose. Good luck with the brake job.

^^^ This is the facts. And much better than bleeding, which is a pain in the ass.
