I have looked everywhere but cant find an aftermarket system i.e. Accel. Mallory or MSD that fits the tacoma 2.7L . I had a 1994 Jeep wrangler 4cyl 5 speed about 12 years ago and put an accel 300+ ignition system in it and it made a big difference in the performance and i am looking to do the same to the Tacoma. anyone know of a good kit for these trucks?

What year model are you talking about? The newer Coil on Plug ignition systems are pretty darn good from the factory. A long tube header from LC Engineering may give the performance bump you're looking for.

Ive got a 2014 4x4 AC with the 4cyl 5 speed. I do have plans to change the header with an LCE header but i would also like to upgrade the ignition system to something similar to the old accel 300+ systems that they sold in the past but it appears that they arent making kits anymore for new cars unless its a corvette, mustang or something similar to that. I put a 300+ system on a jeep wrangler that i had years ago and it made a huge difference in the power output of the engine. I was running a 6" lift on the jeep with 33's and couldnt use 5th gear on the highway unless i was going down hill but after i installed the 300+ 5th gear felt like 4th gear. I did the exhaust, intake and installed an optima red top before the ignition system but the thing that gave me the most gains was the ignition system. before i put the 300+ system on it i did replace all the sensors and ignition system with OEM parts with no improvements so i know it wasnt just a bad ignition system or sensor.

I don't doubt that hotter coils made a difference. Accel has been around a long time and has a good reputation. But from what I've seen just a couple of companies make aftermarket upgrade parts for the 4cyl pickups. There's probably just not enough of a market to recoup the R&D costs, much less make a profit.

It’s crazy to me that there isn’t a market for these anymore. Every car that I owned and installed either an Accel, MSD or Mallory multi spark ignition system on with a minimum 45kV coil improved the power as well as gaining a minimum of 4mpg. I see people putting cold air intakes, exhaust, throttle body spaces and what not to gain a few HP and MPG but the best I ever got trying those was MAYBE a 2mpg gain and that is a big MAYBE. The CAI and throttle body spacers work great if you can burn more fuel thatis entering the combustion chamber but without a better spark they are basically useless.
