I had a hummer h3 come in to work with this problem. The shaft popped out. I spread the ring out and it has never come back. So it is possible for the ring to become worn and not fit snug enough

A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
Maybe for the old shaft, but the new shaft he put in, maybe the groove is worn where the ring sits. Spreading the ring could work, but I fear that it may not carry him on a 7 hour drive.

Replaced the bearing with the ECGS sleeve. Worked like a charm.
Firestone guy, who used to work at Toyota, said that the last time he saw the bearing fail, it took out the whole diff. I'm glad mine failed the way it did.

The factory manual requires that the clip be replaced. Some get pretty hammered up during removal and insertion. There should have been a distinct snap when it seated in the goove. Also the manual wants you to test it for seating by trying to yank the CV shaft out.

They tried to yank out the shaft, after replacing it. It stayed in. I suspect that there was so much slop, that it worked itself loose. I did the same, after expanding the clip, and installing the bushing.

Thanks! Without you guys, I would have been at the mercy of Firestone:eek:
