Hey I'm fairly new to the tacoma world. I've been looking for a Regular Cab 4x4!

There is a 2003 Regular Cab 4x4 tacoma for sale in my area that is priced at $11,000.. I think it is a bit pricey, considering that I have seen newer tacomas for around the similar price!

I was wondering what would be the ideal price for a regular cab 4x4 tacoma?

Mileage would help, but that's about the going rate for one with 150 k miles

mileage is pretty good 126k. Ive seen other ex cabs and double cabs for same price. 8k sounds a bit more sane!! It's from a dealer and it has been up for sale for more than 40+ days

I bought my 2004 reg cab 4x4 two (or so) weeks ago for $10,900. The reason it's so high is because it's from a dealer and these trucks have insane resale value. Private party would be cheaper. The guys I bought mine from would not budge at all on the price. I would definitely try to talk them down from 11k on a 2003. But I wouldn't be surprised if they won't come down.

Edit: mine has 118k miles on it

Edit2: I would also ask them what kind of maintenance they did to it, as well as any repairs they did. Also, check to see if the rear leaf springs are sagging. If they are, I would use that as leverage to make them come down on the price. I bought mine and didnt check the leafs (facepalm) and had to spend $400 for new ones. Waiting on them to come in now

Have you tried seeing what KBB says for this truck?

Seems high. I sold my 2001 extended cab 4x4 with 115k on it for $10,000 flat. Was a manual but a great truck, that was 2 years ago.

CarFax says its $700 above retail book value.
KBB says it shouldn't be more than around $7000!

I'm sure they put that price to see if any noob would fall for it, I'm sure they're expecting negotiation though. They had actually had it at $11,500 the first day it was posted, but after a month they brought it down $500

I even think $9k is high

Bring in a copy of KBB, show it to them, and tell them you'll give them (pick a number) say from 6000 - 7000. That's what I'd do.

That's probably not going to do much considering dealers dont use KBB or carfax for pricing. They use auction numbers and numbers from dealers all over the country for pricing.

they wont care what KBB says. they will end up getting that price if you dont buy it. I know down here in Southern California i see 03 double cabs 4x4s go for 14k at dealers and they seem to last a week or two before selling for that.

And in Texas. As long as there is no rust at all, those engines will last forever, as long as you take care of them. I got my latest for $5800, lots of miles, but the body was darned good. And ......I can work on it.

Not sure if that's a Good price but just as reference I just bought a 2000 xtra cab SR5 2wd automatic, stepside for $5900 OTD. The paint and body are perfect, new tires, and clean interior. I was very happy

They don't care what Carfax values the car at because they have real world info on what they sell for.. Using Carfax report is a selling point. Horrible argument.

1st gen Tacomas (95.5-2004) trucks are highly coveted.

KBB pricing becomes moot. KBB puts my truck at $5300.

I can EASILY get double that. Possibly closer to triple.
