So I received a love tap from a Honda Odyssey last night, mostly contained to the rear bumper. But the bumper was pushed in to the right rear bed side so there is a little body work needed. I was thinking of maybe switching to a plate bumper, but have some weight concerns given this is primarily a work truck. Does anyone other than Aluminess make an aluminum rear bumper for the 2013 Tacoma?

If you have the factory tow package, you could look for someone local to build one for you. I built mine from 3/16" and 1/4" steel with 1" shackle mounts and it weighs within a few pounds (around 10 or so)of the stock bumper and hitch setup. Just a thought.

Yes I have the factory tow package, but had not thought of having one made locally. What does the factory chrome rear bumper weigh?

IIRC the factory bumper and hitch together weigh around 80-90 lbs. The stock bumper can't weigh much, maybe 25 lbs.

You just have to love drivers in California. I was rear ended on 680 North in a backup at the Mission Blvd off ramp. The other driver has filed a claim with my insurance company claiming I caused the accident by making a sudden lane change and cutting him off.
