Be happy you got a "good" one. It's odd the inconsistency from Toyota on these transmissions and "release" bearings. For as many threads of transmission issues there seems to be as many that don't. I have no other complaints on the drivetrain, this is my first Toyota since my late 80's high school truck. This V6 kicks ass, but I'm not impressed with my trans in this '08. Maybe when I'm forced to replace it the next one will be fine?

The factory Aisin clutch in mine was great, but then I didn't have many miles on it. I chose to upgrade while having it all apart for the bearing replacement because I'm running 37" tires and 4.88 gears.

Toyota Mexico used LUK clutches for their original equipment .Ford and GM also used LUK for the clutch provider .
I use to use LUK all the time and swore by their product but that was 15 years ago . Sounds like they are building inferior clutches now
