Hey guys and gals! Some of you probably remember my previous thread about the sport vs limited model and the day finally came when I bit the bullet on a 2014 sport. This one has the navigation like I was looking for but no jbl upgrade which I am okay with. The one thing I'm not fancying is the dealer placed one of those chrome overlays over my grill. At first I thought it was the actual grill but after doing some research on here it looks like its just a simple overlay. I'm wanting to get this off because one of the main reasons I got the sport was to ditch the chrome look (its not bad but looks better on the full size trucks.) From what I've looked at on here it looks as simple as removing it them going behind it with some adhesive remover but i don't want to go messing up the grill of my 2 day old truck. Is the removal process smooth for those who have done this? Is there necessarily a best way to do this and what would be the best tool to use without causing any damage?

I just purchased a new grill on eBay that was my body color and swapped the entire unit. Though I did install a Rigid LED Grill in the new one before installation. There are also a few dealers online that have good prices. The grill is dead simple to swap, two screws, four retainers, and a number of tabs.

Just get under it with something that won't scratch the paint and start prying. You may need to use a hairdryer to soften it some. Leftover adhesive can be removed with Goo Gone or WD40.

Personally, if it's a TRD Sport and the dealer put a chrome colored grill surround on there I would make them put a body colored one back on. Why mess with it if you don't have to? Unless it's a random piece I've never seen, you can't just peel it off, it's plastic and will have to be replaced with a body colored piece.
