Located in Kentucky, my lady and I looking for a nice beach for a few days getaway. It will be a 5 day trip including traveling so don't really want to spend an entire day's drive to make it there. We're both 25 so we want something that can hold our attention for a few days with some stuff to check out in the day as well as night. Any suggestions/places you enjoyed going to?

    North Carolina? Pretty nice place?

    Virginia Beach.

Probably the shortest and easiest drive. Just get on I-64 and head east.

You have the strip with all the hotels and the typical tourist type stuff, but you also have other places a bit removed from all that very close by. There are all kinds of things to do and see here other than the beaches. Nearby in Williamsburg there is Busch Gardens (Roller coasters, rides and such). There are all kinds of options as far as lodging too from campgrounds to really expensive hotels.

If you want to know more just PM me.

The outer banks are definitely a nice place. Look at the southern NC beaches too. The water gets warmer there, 80's by July.
I was down at Topsail Beach this weekend, beautiful!

Another vote for the Outter Banks. Very nice place and not nearly as crowded as VA Beach. I guess it depends on what you're looking for though. If you like commercialized beaches, VA Beach would be perfect, if you want quiet, go to the Outter Banks.

I really want a mix but you guys got me looking at outer banks. I tried to search for a few things to do since we're only going to be there about 4 days minus travel and couldn't find a lot of stuff online (Restaurants, fishing, shopping, etc.) I just assume go where its quite but sometimes (almost all the time) you have to please the woman! lol

I went to Emerald Isle NC last year for vacation and I had a great time. This is a pic I took from our beach front rental, it is a nice place to just hang out and relax.

I know a lot of Kentuckians go to Myrtle Beach because it's close and must not be that expensive.

If you don't mind driving 10 hours, I would suggest heading down to the panhandle of Florida. If you really like driving you can check out Panama City, Destine, and Pensacola. If you really want to feel far away from home swing by Seaside, FL. It's where t hey filmed the Truman Show and it's so surreal. Feels like you're in the movie.

Panama City has a feel of Pidgeonforge and Gaitlinburg, TN. It's got a lot of stuff similar but instead of mountains it's has a beach.

If you go to the outer banks you might want to head up to corolla and check out the lighthouse. There's one down in Cape Hatteras but its a longer drive.

Also look into carolina beach area or Wilmington. Carolina beach may not b ur thing but I love it. Headed there for a week end of next month. Wilmington has a lot to enjoy. Bars and restaurants etc.

Outer Banks like others have said, I live in Virginia Beach and feel it leaves much to be desired. I head to the outer banks often during the summer months, love it down there.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
do not go to myrtle beach...aka redneck riviera...

extremely dirty and trashy. if you are looking for a nice place, that's not it. north or south of there are better.
