I have a 2012 Tacoma. The AUX MP3/iPod female input plug (it's right above the two cup holders ) has a bad / intermittent connection and my iPod keeps turning off. I bought an 1/8" panel mount AUX female input from radio shack which I plan to install. How do I remove the black bezel that houses the AUX input jack without marring and scratching the surrounding plastic that houses the black bezel? Is there a special tool? Do finesse the bezel out some way?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I believe you can just pop out the center console, pop CD player assy (start with the ac controls using a putty knife or screw driver and paper towel, that will expose 4 10mm bolts) then that whole piece with the aux switch will come out.

I had my whole interior apart this past weekend so I can't remember if it would be necessary to take the plastic off under the steering wheel or not, there may be a 10mm bolt holding the center plastic on hidden under there.

Once it's out you just push the tabs on the back if the input and it will pop out and you just put the new one in.

I noticed that the bezel where the AUX INPUT plug is housed wiggled slightly so I used a stiff feeler gauge to remove the bezel. I inserted the stiff feeler gauge at the top of the bezel and gently pressed it inward to depress plastic clip. I pulled the bezel toward me and lifted up freeing the bottom plastic clip on said bezel. There is a 10 pin plug assembly that needs to be disconnected also. Depress that clip and remove the AUX PLUG bezel assembly. Well the AUX PLUG internal contacts weren't making positive contact and I noticed 2 bad solder joints on the little circuit board. I repaired the solder joints.
Here is the important part. You can't use a garden variety panel mount 1/8 " female AUX jack. The one that Toyota uses has 6 pins that get soldered to the circuit board. I saw those in the parts drawer at radio shack and if they have the same pin configuration I will buy it, install it and report back. If all works well I will state the part number of the new AUX INPUT for anyone else that has this problem.

^ I am gonna try that. I want to move my atrac to the right if it will fit (I know some of that is notched) but don't want to open up the dash in the slightest. time to drag out my feelers see if it works

Atrac is on the top part right? If so it's just 2 rivets above the gauge cluster and that whole piece will pull out
