Ok so when I ordered my truck it came with the 7 way socket and its mounted under the bumper. the stupidest design ever, but it lasted almost 10 years there until I recently ripped it off backing up. So I now have the wireway and the internal socket but I dont have the connector or the plug. I keep looking for 7-Way Replacement Tow Package Wiring Harness but since the 4 way is normal for the tacoma nothing states it will match up. Has anyone dealt with this? I saw that a bunch of you moved it by the licence plate light which is where it will be going but now I just need the proper wires and plug.

Please help, I hate having things hanging when broken. :(

You should be able to get a replacement harness from the dealer I would think; from the main wiring loom to the back of the truck is a separate piece, I think.

Shelby, I ripped this off my brand new TRD TX Baja truck on my first wheeling expedition so I am looking for the same answer, I basically smashed the plug against the ground on a large rock obstical, the bumper didn't hit but the hitch and harness did - terrible design. When I fix it I'm going to move the harness to the top of the bumper somewhere so it's at least protected, I am considering just taking the entire tow hitch off/out though.

Worst case go to an auto parts store, walmart or harbor freight and get a replacement 7 pin with bracket. Just wire it in. It has very simple directions on the package, you will need to splice the wire if you ripped them off and are now too short. But you can mount it some where else if you would like.

Thanks, I got the plug but I didnt know if I could just replace the short end of the harness. I will look around and let you know what works and what doesnt work.

I've seen a couple of people remove one of their license plate lights and mount the 7-pin connector there. Seems like a nice place to keep it out of the way and protected. Just an idea for you guys who keep breaking yours off.

Shelby, try calling Camelback Toyota. They are a vendor on here and have been vey helpful for me when I was trying to locate a particular OEM part. Their pricing is also very reasonable (they usually beat my local Toyota shop by 20 - 30%).
