Heck, I had regrets about the Access Cab. Jeez, the complaining about the rear sets (justified, actually). So I went and bought a 2005 Tundra today. It's an Access Cab also but it has much more comfortable rear seats for three. And still has the 6.1 ft bed.

It's the same overall length as the 2nd Gen Tacoma DCSB at 218 inches. Same width at 75 inches. I would have bought the 2012 DCLB originally because I like the 6.1 ft bed, but at 229 inches it wouldn't fit in my 223 inch garage. And 282 HP, 325 torque with the same gas mileage from the 4.7L V8 is nice. The 2005 Tundra weighs in at 4785 lbs curb weight, apx. 600 lbs more than a 2nd gen Tacoma mostly because of the steel bed I guess.

Hopefully I'll have happier passengers and I'll be happy too. The auto trans will make me happy, I was getting tired of shifting that 6-spd. I was surprised to see the stock ground clearance on the 1st Gen Tundra is 10.4 inches with the same 245/16 tires, as opposed to 9.2 inches on the Tacoma.

Anyway, 2005 Tundra 4WD Limited Stepside, 110k miles, $15k. Beautiful light gray leather, Class IV tow package with engine and trans cooler, 7100 lb tow capacity, power rear slider, cargo lamp, locking tailgate, power front bucket, DRL, fogs, rear windows vent which is nice.

They're purty, right? I never saw one before, and I overpaid about $500 for it, but seeings how I searched the entire USA for two weeks and saw only one 2005 4WD Limited stepside I figured I'd jump on it.

0 regrets other than keeping my f150 so long.

Cruise control is a direct swap, buy the stalk off ebay for $130 and spend 10 mins of your time. The 2.7 5 speed combination is glorious, buy one and don't look back.

The 2015 Toyota Tacoma is a 4-door, 4-seat Regular Side, available in 19 trims, ranging from the Base (M5) 4x2 Access Cab to the 4x4 Double Cab Long Box. Upon introduction, the $20,615 Base (M5) 4x2 Access Cab is equipped with a standard 2.7L, 4-cylinder, engine that achieves 21-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A Manual transmission is standard. The $28,385 4x4 Double Cab Long Box is equipped with a standard 4.0L, 6-cylinder, engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 21-mpg on the highway. An Automatic transmission is standard.

This past week, both the parts manager and the sales rep told me I got the last one from their dealership. The model is being discontinued.

Damn I really didn't wanna go ram. Guess if I can't find a 4x4 single cab taco I can maybe do a regular cab tradesman with 4x4. But I really don't need a full size truck. I'll definitely try to find a tacoma first though. The rams to me just seem to have too much tech to be solid longterm.

And steel block on the 4.7l, as opposed to the all-aluminum 4.0l.

Some other differences between a 1st gen Tundra and a 2nd gen Tacoma. Tundra has a sealed 5-spd auto, no dipstick, supposedly you "never" have to change the auto trans fluid. $350 at the dealer if you choose to do so.

My mechanic buddy tells me the starter is under the intake housing on top of the engine in the 4.7l. 4.7l is an interference motor with a timing belt with a 90k mile change, 4.0l is timing chain.

'05 Tundra is the same dimensions as the 2nd gen Tacoma, has apx the same approach/crossover/departure angles, maybe a little better departure angle because of the stock 10.4" of ground clearance as opposed to the 9.2" on the 2nd gen Tacoma. '05 Tundra comes stock with bolt on side steps. Same partially boxed frame as the 2nd Gen Tacoma, goes to unboxed behind the transmission.

'05 Tundra Access Cab has much better rear seat comfort with the 60/40 split rear bench, plus leather. Same underseat storage boxes.

Heated mirrors on the '05 Tundra, no backup camera, power horizontal rear slider, power vertical entire rear window on the Double Cab.

'05 Tundra has a rudimentary DAC with a button to put the auto trans locked into "L". '05 Tundra has LSD non-locker rear diff, 4-wheel ABS. Tow package is about the same, Class IV hitch, 7-pin, 27F battery, 130 amp alternator, engine oil cooler, trans cooler.
