Thanks for the info that I have found here as a guest. I had been looking to buy a 1st gen for about a month and reading from this site for a couple of weeks. I bought a 2003 Tacoma 2 days ago, yay! Now I have more questions. The Tacoma I bought was advertised as a base model but was told by the dealer it is an sr5 model. It has a factory elocker rear diff, I have read posts here that only TRD models have factory rear lockers. There are no TRD decals on my truck, what do you guys think?
Thanks for all your help. I can see that this will be a hobby, not just transportation.
I just ordered a new stereo (DVD player), because I wanted a backup camera. Next maybe a small lift kit?

Welcome man. WNC is one of my favorite places on earth. Just moved back to Florida recently from up there.
