So I bought some lightly used fully assembled (never disassembled) stock TRD OR front strut/coil assembly and rear shocks recently. Last weekend I took the time to install them and although I had to fight alot of older rusted hardware then seemed to go right on the truck no problems. I even double checked the front strut/coil assemblies to make sure the top hat angles were the same as the ones I had taken of and such. When i put her all back together, I had a very noticeable lean. Driver side sat about 1" lower than passenger side, now after about a week its not quite as bad but still about 1/2" to 3/4" lean. I wanted to know is this a case of Tacoma lean? where I may need a spacer? or are the two front strut/coil assemblies have different spring ratios or something I dont know about. I wanted to see if someone else had a reasonable answer before I go taking it all apart again and swap the sides the assemblies are on to see if that helps. Please Help!!!!

Good thread to check out and should answer all your questions:

Looks like the OEM coils are side specific and the driver side is a tad longer.

"Just a clarification , the OME trim packer , only for use with the OME shocks , goes at the bottom of the coil

The 1/4" Toytec spacer , for use with 5100's , goes on top of the coil" - http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...n-regarding-taco-lean-spacer.html#post4387650

Interested to see if that's the case. I can check my OEM springs later tonight and measure or check for any noticeable difference in markings. It sounds like that's what the issue is.

Will post when I find time this weekend to fix it, and take a good look at the difference

    Problem Fixed!

Swapped out the front coil assemblies, and the lean was gone. I forgot to write down part numbers for which one goes on which side. But one is about 1/4" to 3/8" longer than the other, very hard to notice it, but the slightly longer one goes on the drivers side.

So they are definitely slightly different assemblies.
