My T case is leaking from the front output, i found a diagram showing that there is two oil seals there but im not sure how i would get the flange off to get to the second seal that is in there. is it just a pinion style nut and i can pull the flange off, or is there more then that?

and do you guys recommend separating the tranny and tcase and doing the tranny rear and all the tcase seals, or just leave it in the truck and replace the one leaking seal

Get the fsm. I'd split it from tranny just so you could replace that seal too.

ive been thinking about this, and it all depends on what seals i can get tomorrow at the dealer. if i can get them all, then it gets pulled, if i can only get the front output then it stays mated

    It's a zip file.

You have to uncompress it. Once you do that, it will be folders filled with pdfs. All labeled.

The seal between trans and transfter you should use rtv. That's one of the paperseals that should of never been paper. Just like the 3rd member seal

Just noticed that I've developed a leak here too.

Been searching the hell out of it and wanted to add this info that I found here:

Good call. It takes less than an hour to complete the job using the instructions in the t4r link. If that doesn't solve your problem, you can always drop the case and go for more.

    ^That's what I did.

So I did the install last weekend.

    heres the leak:

I got both seals for the front output not knowing which one was bad. Turns out it was the "inner" (larger) seal that was fubar.

    P/N for my '01 v6 DC were:
    90311-41012 Larger seal $11.52
    903213-23001 Smaller seal $3.74
    90179-22016 Nut $3.36

    new vs. old
    [IMG]

as you can see the old one was pretty shot w/ lots of debris, there were two noticeable areas of minor damage/tears that were causing the leak.

I followed the t4r write-up and it went pretty smoothly. Un-staking the nut was not too bad, just used a flat head screwdriver (did break one off though :() I first tried to "seat" the seal w/ a piece of pvc pipe that I had lying around but I accidently pushed the seal in too far and it went into the TC . I had to pry it back out and almost tore the new seal!! On my second attempt I found it easier to just press it in with my thumbs.

Got everything all buttoned up and no more leak!

    Well FUUUUUU!

Started leaking again, very slow leak. Either I did damage the new inner seal when I had to pull it outta the TC or now the outer/smaller seal (which I didn't replace) is now bad...

Hopefully tear into it on Sunday and figure out the problem.. :frusty:
