Well I have a 4.0 v6 in my taco it started to have a miss and threw a miss fire cyclinder 6 code. I had installed the stock densos from dealer last Fall and they had about 10,000 miles on them. Upon inspection of the plugs there was some discoloration on the porcelin of the plug see the below picture I stole from the internet. The discoloration was on all three plugs on the drivers side.

I also checked the coil on cyc 6 and lit up my spark tester just fine.

So I changed the plugs to denso platnium's and reset the ecu. But I still have a miss sometimes at idel and while crusing around 40 mph without any new check engine lights?

    Any thoughts?

I appreciate the help about the head gasket I don't have the water sound and I don't have the brown foam in the oil cap. No sweet smell in the exhaust. I really think it's a fuel or spark thing but I put a bottle of injector cleaner and we'll sees what that does.

Did you replace the insulators on the coils? If so, swap coils to see if the problem moves. If it does, you found the problem.
If the problem is still there, wait a tank full to see if the injector cleaner works. If not, swap fuel injectors. If the problem moves, you found it.

Anyone know where to get the insulator at the bottom of the coil at? I tried the dealer, autozone, advanced and o Reilly 's they all say it comes with the coil only?

This place has original OEM parts at a good price. toyomotorparts.com, you just put in your vin # at the opening page and you won't have problem ordering the wrong part. Been using them for years I like the fact that every part search has a diagram option to select so you'll know exactly the part you are trying to find.
