Hey guys, I have a 2007 tacoma double cab, I just bought the 2 10" sub box that fits behind the rear seats in my truck. I need some help with finding subwoofers that will fit inside the box i bought. the other subs I had, the magnets were hitting the back of the box. anybody have links or names of subs I can buy that will fit inside this box? or if you have a pair for sale I will consider also.

here is a link to the box i bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331201524844?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

I would personally send those back and get the JL10TWv3 - best sounding thin 10 in my opinon, clean and hard...

I chose to get a custom sub enclosure built that actually fit under my real JL cover, it's a ported 8 and hits harder than any enclosure I've ever had... wasn't the cheapest way to do it but man it sounds phenomenal.

I built my own box and used a Hertz ES250 sub.

    It is a snug fit.

But fit it does. I even recessed it about 1/4".

Ugh, tell me about it. JL makes some huge amps. One is the 300/4 driving the front and rear doors, the other is the 250/1 driving the sub. That was the only way I could make it fit. The sub box is built as big as necessary to satisfy the cubic foot requirement, leaving not very much space for the amps. What you can't see is the right side of the rack is actually spaced farther away from the rear wall of the cab so it fits flush with the plastic trim, allowing the 300/4 to clear it.

But if you think that's nuts, look at this guy's first gen: http://www.jlaudio.ca/galleries/_/699150

2ohm dual voice coil kicker solo barics! you know the square ones, they need little air space and they are shallow enough to fit, mine work very well! also stuff the hell out of the box with good insulation!

i took that plastic crap out from behind the backseats and cut and bent all the brackets on the back wall to make the box fit well.

for your amps and crossovers, pull that storage plastic unit crap out from under the backseat, then you can trim some of the inner sheet metal to make a good bit of room for amps. i have 2 amps, a crossover and capacitor in there, also if you look at the front wall of that space like under where your knees are there are some oblong holes. cut the divider between the holes and make a square and you can use those 12v fans that you use for cooling a computer and screw them in that space, helps with the heat!

oh and you can fit 2 of the solo barics!

there is a guy here who make competition amps, actually he live in opelousas louisiana, he calls them LUNAR, they are the best of the best of the best of the best! they are hard to find but if you find one they are gold! you need an L100, they run as low as 1/2 ohm, new they are about $600 if you troll ebay can find for half that, they are the best of the best in the world!

note they draw almost 30amps so you need heavy wiring!

for common crap, phoenix gold is descent, i have 2000watt in 1 car, kicker amps get a bad rap. but i have 1 in the tacoma for mids and highs and works well for the price. hifonics is another brand that gets a bad rap, a hifonics zeus would work for your and i think they down to like $200-$300 now! they hella big though!

above all make sure you get a nice ACTIVE powered crossover, a 3 way active powered crossover so you can set gain, frequency for your highs, mids, lows separately!

if you do go with something like a zeus consider a capacitor, 2 farad should be ok. for a lunar i would consider a 3 farad capacitor.

this is an example of a 3way active crossover

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/CADENCE-CXR...OVER-w-7-VOLT-LINE-DRIVER-CXR-7-/171302235429

what it does, is you plug your radios RCA wires into 1 side and then it has 3 RCS plugs on the other side that connect to amps, if you only putting an amp on the subs, then you only worry about that output plug

the crossover allows you to control the frequency of the signal. like you ever hear someone at a stoplight and the music is loud as hell but all distorted? thats because they are playing all frequencies through their subwoofers. with a crossover you use the dials to turn off all the high frequency sounds, like vocals of the people singing, etc and you get a clean signal with only bass. so when you drive up to the stoplight, yours sounds crisp and clean. also running without a crossover is the quickest way to blow a good woofer!

phoenix gold is a brand of amp

    http://www.phoenixgold.com/products/amplifiers/

you want a D-SUB stype amp for your woofers

hifonics is another brand of amp

    http://www.hifonics.com

    this is the hifonics zeus

    http://www.hifonics.com/hifonics_zeus_amplifiers.html

    great for the price!

kicker is a brand of speakers ans amps

    this is kicker solobaric

    http://www.kicker.com/Solo_Baric_L7

you can find previous year models of the same speaker for way less, i use:

kicker solobaric L5 model, 10 in DVC (dual voice coil), 2 ohm (they are the square speakers you may have seen

just look for 10" kicker solobaric 2ohm DVC to keep it simple
    something like these

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-10-Kicker...Car_Subwoofers_Enclosures&hash=item2a3e12fe89

a capacitor is used in all elctronics, if you ever open up something and see the little mini 'coke can' looking things, usually blue? thats a capacitor, its job is to compensate and keep the flow of voltage steady. so if you have a high power amp, when the bass suddenly hits hard, there is a sudden SURGE of power, the capacitor keeps the votage steady instead of dipping from 13.4 volts to like 11 volts which stresses your equipment, stresses your alternator and pulls power from your other equipment. you ever see a car with big speakers and amps and when they crank it up the headlights dim a little?

this is a decent cheap capacitor, they are measured in 'farads' this is a 3 farad, i suggest 2 farad min

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-POWER-A...t=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item2ec65661a6&vxp=mtr

hope this helps some, if you have any questions bro just lemme know i built many high end audio systems
